Tooth-Colored Dental Fillings

Tooth-Colored Dental Fillings in Borger, TX

Tooth-colored (composite) fillings repair cavities and minor damage with a material that's shaded to match your natural tooth. They look much better than the old silver amalgam fillings, and because the composite bonds directly to the tooth, they actually help support what's left of the tooth structure.

How the filling is placed

After numbing the area, Dr. Robertson removes the decay and cleans out the cavity. The composite is then applied in thin layers, each one hardened with a curing light before the next goes on. The final shape is sculpted to match your tooth's natural contours and polished smooth. Start to finish, most single fillings are done in one visit.

Why we use composite

  • Mercury-free and metal-free
  • Bonds directly to the tooth, supporting the remaining structure
  • Less temperature sensitivity than amalgam
  • Better seal at the edges, which lowers the chance of new decay underneath
  • Works for small to moderately-sized cavities that amalgam sometimes couldn't handle well
  • Can be repaired or adjusted without removing the entire filling
